About Adventists
We are Bible-believing, Protestant Christians who enjoy being part of a worldwide movement that is founded in God’s Word, centred in Christ and serves across the globe with more than 23 million members.
As our name indicates, we affirm the seventh day—Saturday—as a special time, set apart for humankind to be in relationship with God, where we celebrate life, worship God, grow deep relationships, share faith, and serve in our spheres of influence, growing in faith. The word ‘Adventist’ highlights our belief in the words of Jesus and His promise to come again.
Sola Scriptura and Our Fundamental Beliefs
As Seventh-day Adventists, we are committed to ‘Sola Scriptura’. This is the principle that the Bible alone is the supreme authority in matters of faith and practice (Romans 15:4). We accept the Bible as our only creed and hold certain fundamental beliefs.
Our Fundamental Beliefs are a summary of our faith and practice, and emphasise growing in our relationship with God and others in the context of the times in which we live.
God’s identity as our Saviour is at the core of these beliefs; therefore, they are rooted in the principles of love, righteousness, justice, truth, compassion, obedience, peace, joy and faithfulness.
