HIGH SCHOOL RALLY 1

High School Rally: A collaboration with Adventist Schools Victoria

Darcy Holman

More than 250 high school students attended the inaugural collaboration between Adventist Schools Victoria and VicYouth at the “Even if” High School Rally.

It was an exciting event, with a great worship service put together by students from Nunawading Christian College, Heritage College and Edinburgh College. The speaker for the rally was Rahel Gungadoo, who answered the question “When is God not God?” by looking into the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in Daniel Chapter 3.

One of the big take away points from the message was that even though most of the Israelites felt that God had abandoned them to be captured by their enemies, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego stood up to declare their faithfulness “Even If” God didn’t rescue them from their fiery fate.

Through the worship we learned that we can trust God even when it looks like He isn’t there. And to believe, even in the “if” moments.

After worship and a delicious lunch of baked potatoes prepared by the Nunawading Pathfinder Club, we participated in an amazing afternoon program hosted by students at Avondale University. They had put together an interactive walkthrough activity that followed the journey of the Israelites in the book of Exodus.

We're so grateful to everyone who helped make this event possible, especially Simon Hutton, and the ASV Chaplaincy teams for helping coordinate the event with over 60 volunteers across the day. We absolutely couldn't have done it without you!
