Westpoint Church celebrates their Ninth Anniversary

Zach Tan

On May 10, 2025, Westpoint Church celebrated its ninth anniversary, dedicating that Sabbath to remembering everything God has done to bless the community and to look back on the journey taken so far.

Westpoint started as a church plant created by Spotswood Church. What had been a small church in the 1990s grew exponentially after outreach and Bible studies. In 2016, it was decided that a church plant would be created to handle the overflow of members God had blessed them with. Meetings were held in various members’ houses to develop a name for this new church plant. One member, previously a member of Northpoint Church, suggested the name ‘Westpoint’.

On May 7, 2016, Westpoint held its first Sabbath in St Albans Meadows Primary School, beginning Westpoint Church’s activities as a church plant separate from Spotswood.

In 2021, it relocated again to a factory owned by a church member before moving to its current location—a Salvation Army church in Brimbank—in 2023. Funds are currently being raised to build a new church building.

As part of the anniversary, special guest Pr Graeme Christian, the Victorian Conference President, gave a sermon reflecting on the growth of the Adventist church and what it means to be a disciple, encouraging all to share their faith with others through our actions and the love of Jesus. Lunch was served afterwards, and more tables than usual were set up to accommodate the large number of visitors and friends who had come to share in Westpoint’s celebrations.

Westpoint Church will continue to dedicate its resources and community towards its mission—to spread the love of Jesus Christ through our community and to bring the Three Angels’ message upon a world yearning for hope—towards the 10th anniversary and afterwards.
